A note from Sary

Ch.10-CD.6: Game Techniques Within Scarcity & Impatience Anchored Juxtaposition (69): you place two options side by side: one that costs money, the other requiring a great amount of effort in accomplishing the Desired Actions which will benefit the system. For example, a site could give you two options for obtaining a certain reward: a) Pay $20 right now, or b) complete a ridiculous number of Desired Actions. The Desired Actions could be in the form of "Invite your friends," Upload photos," and/or "stay on the site for 30 days in a row."
