2- Upselling In Robert Cialdini's classic book Influence: The Psychology of Per-suasion, he discusses the contrast principle. The contrast principle comes into play when two different things presented sequentially feel more different than they really are. For example, if you lift a heavy object first followed by a light one, you'll judge the second object to be lighter than it really is. The exact same thing applies to price. When prospects buy the primary "expensive" item first, the suggested add ons feel compara• tively cheap.
