Miller claimed at the time that "just turning on the spark in a basic pre-biotic experiment" produced half of the twenty-two amino acids. Several years ago, a team reanalyzed the original flasks from the Miller-Urey experiments, and found that in one version which simulated the environment around an undersea volcano—all twenty-two amino acids had been created.
