How to do customer interviews: • Actively listen: give the interviewee your full attention. From time to time, lean forward, nod, or follow an interesting response with smile noise like “ha ha”, “hmm”, or “that’s interesting” • Encourage complaints • Reference “other people”: For example, "I’ve heard from other people that… Do you agree?" It's generally easier for people to disagree with an anonymous third party than to disagree with you. They may also be more willing to reveal company information that way.
