A note from Daniel

Rivalry is different from competition. Research shows that when players compete with someone they consider a rival, they 'feel their status is at stake. This can make it a fierce source of motivation, especially when it's focussed towards a common enemy. Rivalry between companies is highest when they're competing in the same domain and are most evenly matched.
