A note from Sarah

Short-term memory involves the temporary holding of information, usually for a few seconds to minutes. During the day, we accumulate a lot of information in our short-term memory. Sleep, helps stabilize and transfer important information from short-term to long-term memory. Without adequate sleep, this transter process is disrupted, making it harder to retain new information.
