A note from Daniel

One of the experiments involved paying some participants with cash and some with a coffee mug. Those receiving the mug answered the questionnaire and then were asked, "What is the minimum amount you would accept in cash for your mug?" When those receiving cash finished the questionnaire, they were shown a mug and asked, "What's the maximum you would pay for it?" For something as simple as a coffee mug with a school logo on it, the disparity in buying and selling prices was amazingly large. If you got the mug, your minimum selling price was at least double the maximum price someone getting the cash would pay to buy it.
