Another use for fungible tokens is as fuel for blockchain networks. Ethereum has a native fungible token, called ether, that serves a dual purpose. The first is as a means of payment within Ethereum-based networks, like NFT marketplaces, DeFi services, and other apps. The second is as payment for "gas," a measure of computational effort, which Ethereum requires to run software on its network.
