But what happens if the CEO can't invest all of our money back in the business and get a good ROIC on it? What happens if he can only use some of it effectively to grow the business, but the rest of it won't speed up growth? That would mean he's either throwing part of our money away or just sitting on it. And those are bad things. We'd rather he not throw any of our money away. We'd rather he give that piece back to us, thank you, so we can put it into a business that can grow it.
