A note from Daniel

Investors that tell you that your valuation is "too high" typically have more detailed reasons for their statement: Fund Criteria: Too high, meaning "your valuation is above the limit of our fund criteria. We only invest in startups with a valuation of 2 million or less." Many angel investment funds and networks only entertain pitches from startups that are early-stage with valuations below certain limits. A high valuation is usually almost always linked to a high raise amount. Be sure to ask the angels if they have such criteria. More Equity: Too high, meaning, "we like your startup and team and we'd like to talk about an investment, but we'd like to get a bit more equity to offset the risk of the investment." This is the conversation you want to have. Too high often means "let's talk more."
