The mental model of Gresham's law highlights how asymmetrical value in entities that are supposed to be equal creates a feedback loop that reinforces all kinds of bad behavior and eventually drives out good behavior. Although the original coinage problem tends not to occur now that currency is generally not made of precious metals, it remains a useful concept for understanding human behavior. It can apply to any situation where there is asymmetry.
