A note from Daniel

To give a sense for how different another market can be, just consider Uber, which succeeded in the United States initially as a private limo app for the iPhone, but ended up in Bangkok as a nearly unrecognizable product: consumers sign up with just their phone numbers (no credit card or emails!) on their low-end Android phones. They use their phone to book rides, but instead of a car, they request Uber Moto, where someone in a motorcycle comes to pick them up, and they have to hold on tight in the back! After getting to their destination, they pay cash, which the app supports, because credit card penetration is low in developing markets.
