Many of these ideas for increasing adoption through viral growth are borrowed from consumer products. This is true not only for Slack but also for many of the new B2B products developed around their time period, like Zoom and Dropbox. These companies pioneered a new style of "bottom-up" growth, where individual contributors seeded a product's adoption within a customer company.
