4. CLEAR DIRECTION Your team needs clear direction from you. When you say things such as "You can do it. Go get it," it's not effective. They need you to say, "I need you to do this, this, and this by this time. Can you do that?" Typically, you don't want to give people more than a list of three things to do at a time or they'll be overwhelmed, but the point is that there are plenty of people who like to be told what to do. For these workers, you need to state the exact deliverable and the exact timeline. Make a verbal agreement: "Are we clear, John, that you'll send me a text by 4:45 p.m. EST today with the names and numbers of 3 vendors?”
