A note from Daniel

A highly urban market like San Francisco possesses many unique factors: lots of early adopters, a high cost of living, a mostly urban environment, and a very educated consumer market. This is in turn very different from a market like Phoenix or Detroit, or many other markets that have their own special characteristics. Sometimes new startups will launch in a second or third market only to find out that, for instance, the market for dog walking mostly makes sense in wealthy urban environments and less so for a market that is mostly single-family housing with backyards.
