A note from Jenn

STAMA IS BOTH A CAUSE AND EFFECT OF ABORTION SEGREGATION. WHEN ABORTION IS TREATED AS IF IT IS NOT A NORMAL PART OF HEALTHCARE, PATIENTS GET THE MESSAGE THAT ABORTION IS NOT A LEGITIMATE OPTION. STIGMA ALSO DETERS PROVIDERS FROM OFFERING ABORTION TO THEIR PATIENTS FOR FEAR OF HARM TO THEIR PROFESSIONAL REPUTATIONS. SIMILARLY, HEALTH SYSTEMS ARE CAREFUL TO PROTECT THE BRANDS THEY'VE CULTIVATED, AND THUS SHY AWAY FROM THE CONTROVERSY ASSOCIATED WITH ABORTION.
